Wiidookodaadiwin Services was founded in June 2018. Wiidookodaadiwin was the name given from an Elder from Couchicing First Nations.
Our name, Wiidookdaadiwin means: “Working together and Helping One Another” in the Anishinaabemowin (Ojibway) language. The Agency is Indigenous owned and operated. As an indigenous owned and operated company, we know and have first hand experience our indigenous people have went through with Child Welfare and the Residential Schools.
Our Services
Wiidookodaadiwin Services offer live in care options for any children and youth throughout BC. We take pride in our work and collaborate with Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies/Delegated Aboriginal Agencies in BC. We work directly with Social Workers, Families and Communities to connect children and youth to family and their cultures. Although Wiidookodaadiwin Services is an Indigenous agency we service and work with any Child or Youth that is placed by MCFD or a Delegated Aboriginal Agency.
Individuals reside in our programs for various lengths of time, depending on their unique needs and plans. Youth in our care are supported with various kinds of challenges including mental health, substance use, or behavioral issues, developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) or other complex developmental and behavioral conditions, past or current trauma, or offending behaviors.
Programs are set up typically as one or two-bed resources. Our work with each individual person served in all programs is team-driven and this includes the individual themselves.
Community Inclusion / Outreach Support
Community Inclusion/Outreach Support (CI/OS) is provided to individuals who require help in establishing person centered goals. While the support worker may help formalize the goals, all goals are established by the individual.
Individuals can receive any number of hours of service/day with the amount of support allocated to an individual being determined by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC). Working in collaboration with CLBC and representative stakeholders we have developed six client focused outcomes that direct and maintain our exceptional standards of care:
Support and promote individual’s rights.
Develop & maintain personal relationships.
Develop and implement personalized plans.
Meet all health and safety needs; promote overall wellbeing.
Contribute in and to their community(ies).
Develop strategies to promote culturally diverse services.
